IJsberen - Polarbears

Ik heb Mare laten kiezen wat ze wil trakteren als ze straks 4 wordt en afscheid neemt op de peuterschool. Ze koos: ijsberen mama's met een baby in hun buikzakje. Ik moet toegeven dat ik wel snap waarom, ze zijn echt super schattig, maar ik heb me wel wat werk op de hals gehaald.... 15 ijsberen mama's, 15 baby's en natuurlijk ook nog wat leuks voor de juffen...

I let Mare choose what she wants to hand out at preschool for her birthday. She chose polarbear mama's, and removable baby's. I do understand why she chose them , they are very very sweet, but I took a big job on me, making 15 of these mama's, 15 baby's and ofcaurse something nice for the teatchers....

Hte patroon komt uit dit boekje, dat ik voor 5 euro heb meegenomen van een beurs. Toen dacht ik nog dat ik er vast bijna nooit iets uit zou maken........ jhahahaha

Naar buiten - Going out

Gisteren gingen we voor het eerst naar buiten. Slechts een wandeling van enkele tientallen meters naar de supermarkt en terug, maar wat een heerlijkheid eindelijk frisse lucht.

Yesterday we made our first walk. Just a few meters up and down the supermarket, but fresh air did us all some good.

Vrijdag 6 January, op driekoningen, is Mares kleine zus Lena geboren!

Friday the 6th of january, on Epiphany, Mare's little sister Lena was born

Mare vindt het geweldig en wil het liefst de hele dag bovenop alle gebeurtenissen zitten. ze wil helpen als een echte grote zus, en vertelt honderd keer per dag hoe lief Lena is.

Mare loves it all and wants to be on top of everything that is happening in our house. She wants to help out like a real big sister, and tells us 100 times a day how sweet Lena is.

Het is toch altijd bijzonder de connectie van oma's en hun kleinkinderen!!

It is always so specials, the connection of grandmothers and their grandchildren!

We hebben een serieus probleem.... 19 muizen hebben hun intrek genomen in onze fruitschaal....

Als de baby geboren is, mag Mare ze uitdelen op de creche. (je moet wat met je verlof he....)

Dagje Schiphol - A day at the airport

Aangezien het vakantie is, zijn we alsmaar leuke dingen aan het doen. Zo gingen we 2 januari naar Schiphol. Mare heeft haar ogen uitgekeken op het panorama terras. Vooral het in en uitladen van de koffers was erg interessant. Ook stond er een vliegtuig waar ze in kon.

As we have schoolhollidays, we try to do many nice things. On the 2nd we went to Schiphol. There they have a big panorama terrace. Mare loved the plains and the uploading of all the suitcases. It was a lot of fun to go into this plain aswell.

Maar niet alleen de vliegtuigen waren geweldig, ook om er met de trein heen te gaan was al super. Bij een pannenkoek kreeg ze dit vliegtuigje. Helemaal blij mee!

Not just the plains were great, but the trip back home by train was atleast as much fun. With a pancake she got this plain. Loves it!

En thuis moest er natuurlijk meteen een vliegveld gebouwd worden

Nieuwjaarsdag - New years day

Al jaren is het gewoonte bij ons om op nieuwjaardag lekker naar buiten te gaan. Fietsen naar het strand, wandelen door het bos etc. Maar met mijn lichamelijke conditie zit dat er niet echt in. Gelukkig hebben we de auto van mijn moeder voor de deur staan op moment en zijn we op nieuwjaarsdag lekker gaan Geocachen.

For years now it has been habbit to go outside on newyearsday. Cycling to the beach, or walking in the woods. But as I am more than 40 weeks pregnant this is not possible for me. Thanks to my mum though we have a car to use this week, so we went Geocaching on newyearsdag.

Rond de dorpjes Graft, De Rijp en Noordeinde. Een plek van Nederland waar wij telkens weer terugkeren. Wat is het hier toch ongelooflijk mooi!

Around the villages of: Graft, De Rijp and Noordeinde. A part of Holland where we seem to come back all the time. We just love the landscape here it is so beautifull.

Swap; mijn aandeel - My part

Voor deze swap heb ik een winterslinger gemaakt. De letters zijn van sprookjes vilt, en de popjes van gewoon vilt. Hij is nog niet aangekomen, maar ik denk dat ze niet kijken op deze blog... :)

For this swap I made this winter hanger. The letters are all made from fairytale felt, the dolls of regular felt. I don't think it has arrived yet, but we will give it a go and post the pictures here.

Naar buiten - Going outside

Al een paar dagen zaten we de hele dag binnen. Gister waren we het zat en hebben de auto geleend om naar het strand te gaan. Wat een wind, en zelfs regen, maar het was zo lekker even buiten te zijn! Zie je meteen dat het vandaag heerlijk weer is... maar ja je kunt het niet voorspellen he.

We were so ready with the bad weather of the last days. We have been sitting inside all the time. So yesterday we took a car to the beach. there was wind, rain and cold, but it was so nice to be outside! And yes ofcaurse today it is shining beautifull weather, but one can't predict that, now can we??

Kerstkaarten - Christmas cards

50 Kerstkaarten was ons doel.... hahahaha

We set our goal at 50 Christmas cards

We begonnen met deze kerstbomen. Een vouwblaadje dubbelvouwen en doorknippen. Een helft bewaren, tweede weer dubbel vouwen en doorknippen etc. Tot je genoeg 3hoekjes hebt om een kertboom mee te maken. Dan lekker versieren.

We started with these christmas trees. fold a square paper in half, cut through, keep one part aside and fold the otherone again in half. Repeat this untill you have enough triangles for a tree. Then decorate

Van deze hebben we er maar 2 gemaakt, die waren iets te ingewikkeld voor Mare

Of these we made only two, they were a bit to hard.

Stempelen, we hebben met een kurk en verf, dmv een sjabloon kerstbomen en sneeuwpoppen gemaakt.

Stamping. We used a cork and stuck it in paint. Then I made a shape of a snowman and a tree out of a piece of cardboard. This way Mare stencilled many cards.

Kerstengelen van taartcircels. Die heb je in alle maten en kleuren. Daarna hoofdje schilderen en haar, ogen, mond erop en de engeltjes waren klaar.

Christmas angles. We made these of cake undercloth. Ypu have them in many sizes and colours. Mare painted a head, drew a face and glittered hair. This way the angles were made.

Geweldige swap - Amazing swap

Deze prachtige gevilte popjes heb ik gekregen via een Steiner geïnspireerde swap waar ik aan mee deed. Het thema was winter. Ik kreeg deze winterse vrouw met baby op de slee uit Canada. Mijn gemaakte werk is nog niet aangekomen, dus daar komen later foto's van.

These amazing dools, I received in a winter themed Waldorff swap. I received this wintery woman with baby on a sled all the way from Canada. They are just so very pretty! I had to show you all. They are felted. My part of the swap is still on its way, so those pictures will come later.

Sinterklaas - Saint Nicholas

Zondagavond bracht de goed heiligman ons een enorme bak vol met kadootjes! Wat een feest, Oma en tante Nenya en Oom Sander waren er ook, en er waren kadootjes voor iedereen.

Sunday evening Saint Nicholas brought us a big basket full of presents. My mother, sister and brother in law were here too. There were presents for everyone! We felt so spoiled.

Maandag was het sinterklaasfeest op de peuterschool. De kinderen mochten verkleed als sint of Piet komen, maar Mare had besloten de prinsessenrok aan te trekken die ze de avond ervoor had gekregen.

On the actual saint Nicholas day (monday) Mare had a celebration at pre - school. She was alowed to be dressed up as saint or Peter, but she decided to wear the princess skirt she got from saint Nicholas the day before.

Mare mocht ook bij sinterklaas komen, die zei iets over haar komende broertje of zusje, maar dat vond ze toch wel heel spannend, en opeens veranderde ze van het grootste en stoerste meisje van de peuterschool in een klein angstig muisje dat in papa's armens klom.

She was asked to come to saint Nicholas, he said something about her baby brother or sister that is comming. That was so exiting that in a second she changed from the toughest little girl in preschool into a scared little mouse that crawled into daddy's arms.

Voor de baby wordt ondertussen ook geknutseld. Hier zie je Nils Holgersson die boven de wieg komt te hangen. Ik heb het pakket gekregen van Betsy, al rond de geboorte van mare. Ik kon er niet toe komen, maar met de nieuwe baby op komst, vond ik het erg mooi om hem te gaan maken.

There are also crafts going on for the baby. Here you see Nils Holgersson he will hang above the cot. I got the whole set to make him from Betsy around the time Mare was born, but never got to making it. With the new baby comming I thought time was ready for him.

Egeltjes

Toen ik Mare laatst ophaalde van de creche, was ze behoorlijk teleurgesteld dat zij geen egeltjes had gemaakt en de andere kinderen wel. (ze gaat maar 1 dag in de week en dus kan ze wat minder maken dan sommige andere kinderen) Dus crea mama die ik ben, hebben we toen thuis zelf nog egeltjes gemaakt. Eigenlijk heb ik niets gedaan, alleen wat takjes van de boom geknipt voor Mare. Vooral door de oogjes vind ik ze super lief geworden!

When I picked Mare up from daycare the other day, Mare was a bit disappointed that she hadn't made the hedgehogs that most of the other kids had made. She only goes there once a week, so children that go more often make more crafts. When we got home we made them ourselfs. Well actually all I did was cut some branches from our garden. Because of the eyes I think they turned out just so sweet.

Back home we took the bag of saint Nicholas toys from the attic. Mare had a real party looking at all the stuff that was in there.

Sint Maarten - Saint Martinmas

Vrijdag was het eindelijk zover. Mare had al weken uitgekeken naar sint Maarten. Lekker in het donker de straat op, zingen voor iedereen en dan ook nog snoepjes krijgen!

Trots showde ze haar lampion en vertelde iedereen dat hij zelfgemaakt was. Ze heeft ook zo genoten van haar vriendjes die meeliepen, wauw, wat een feest!

Friday we celebrated saint Martinmas. Mare had been looking forward to that for weeks. Going outside with her handmade lantern in the dark. Singing songs at every door. She loved it! And collected a big bag full of sweets.

Ik heb gisteren geprobeerd een filmpje erop te zetten, maar toen lukte het niet, zal vandaag nog een poging doen :)

Familie feestje - Family celebration

Zoals het voor veel families gewoonte is om rond 5 december sinterklaas te vieren met alle mensen bij elkaar is dat het ook voor de familie Luijting. Helaas lukt het de oudste zus van Bart niet altijd om in Nederland te zijn rond die datum. Aangezien zij in Noorwegen woont. Afgelopen weekend kon ze er wel zijn, en dan is de keuze snel gemaakt om de familiefeestdag een paar weken vooruit te schuiven.

In Holland it is quit normal for families to come together around the 5th of december and celebrate saint Nicolas. Also for my in law family. But as Barts eldest sister lives in Norway it was not possible for her to be here at that date. So we celebrated our family party last weekend.

We waren in Schoorl in een mooi hotel. Overdag zijn we met 2 tantes van Bart naar het prachtige plaatsje Bergen gegaan, waar ook kunstlijn was.

We were in a beautiful hotel in Schoorl. During the day we went to Bergen whit two of barts aunts, where there was an open art exhibition.

Dagje Amsterdam - A day in Amsterdam

In Ansterdam there is a very old zoo, called Artis. We went there for a day. The stuffed animal Mare is holding is the mascotte of the zoo.

Een tijdje gelden heb ik meegedaan aan een Antroposofische swap. Ik maakte iets voor op de seizoenen tafel van mijn partner en zij voor mij. Al snel kreeg ik een prachtige herfstpop, die Mare meteen had ingepikt. Mijn partner woont echter in Australië dus ik moest iets voor de lente maken.

A while ago, I entered a Waldorf swap. We had to make something for our partners to go on the naturetable. I soon received an amazing autumn doll, wich Mare confiscated inmediatly.

My partner lives in Australia so I had to make something for spring.

Sint Maarten - Saint Martin

Van de herfsttafel hebben we een sint Maarten tafel gemaakt. We hebben een paar mini lampionnen gemaaktn en een huisje. In ons deel van Nederland lopen de kinderen sint Maarten. Dat betekent: met een zelfgemaakte lamion de huizen langs om liedje te zingen en snoepjes te krijgen. Omdat dit ook wel eeen beetje aan Haloween doet denken heb ik kleine heksjes gebruikt als kinderen.

We changed the autumn table in a saint Martins table. We gave the dolls a lantern and I made a house out of a milk carton. In our part of Holland the children "walk saint Martin". This means that they go by the houses with hand made lanterns and sing songs. They collect sweets this way. As it sort of feels a bit the same as haloween, I used little witches as children.

Eigenlijk moet het zo met een lichtje in het huisje, das echter niet helemaal brandveilig, moet nog even electrische kaarsjes kopen.

It is meant to be like this, with a light in the house. But that isn't fire proof :)

Kadootjes - Presents

Zoals ik laatst al zei, zijn Mare en ik heel creatief bezig geweest, maar kon ik nog niets laten zien. Hierbij de tassen die Mare heeft getekent en ik heb genaaid voor Opa en Laura. Deze eerste tas is voor Opa.

As I wrote before, Mare and I have been very busy, but we couldn't show jet what it was we did. We made these bags, one for Grandpa and one for ante Laura. These first two pic's are of Grandpa's bag. Mare drew them, I sewed them.

Herfstknutsel - Autumn craft

Vandaag hebben Mare en ik een heel educatieve herfstknutsel gemaakt, die nog erg decoratief is ook. Hier volgt de stap voor stap handleiding.

Today Mare and me made a very educative craft, wich is very nice to look at too...

here comes the step by step tutorial

Stap 1: Praat met de kleuter over de kleuren van de lucht en grond in de herfst, laat daarna het grondvel schilderen in die kleuren. (ik heb een flink stuk karton genomen)

Step 1: Talk with the child about the colours of sky and earth in autumn, then let her paint the base in these colours. (I took a big piece of cardboard as base)

Stap 2: pak een vouwblaadje in laat het in tweeën vouwen zoals op de foto.

Step 2: take a square piece of red papaer, and let it fold als on the picture

Stap 3: laat precies op de vouw knippen.

step 3: let her cut on the fold.

Stap 4: leg één deel opzij en laat het andere deel veel vouwen en knippen

Step 4: Put one part aside and fold and cut the other part again.

Herhaal stap 4 tot het niet meer lukt

Repeat step 4 as long as the child can do it

Stap 5: laat de kleuter uit wit papaier een steeds smallen steeltje knippen. Voor elke driehoek 1

Step 5: Now let the child cut stems going less broad every stem. One for every triangel.

Nu hebben we spelletjes gedaan door driehoeken en steeltjes steeds van groot naar klein te leggen. En zo te oefenen met termen als groot klein, en dik dun, breed smal.

Now we did some games practising on putting in line on size, and using words as big small, broad.... and thick thin

Stap 6: Tijd voor stippen. we hebben ze gemaakt met de achterkant van een kwastje.

step 6: Time for dots. We made them with the backsides of pencils.

Hier hebben we weer geoefend met groot en klein, door Mare voor elke paddenstoel een kleinere penseel te laten zoeken.

Here we practiced with big and small again, by letting her pick a bigger pencil for every mushroom

Stap 7: Laten opplakken en eventueel versieren met blaadjes of andere herfstschatten.

Step 7: Let her paste them on the base as she likes them, and if you like, decorate with autumn treasures.

Ik ben enorm creatief geweest de laatste dagen en Mare al niet veel minder, maar we kunnen nog niet zo veel laten zien. Het zijn namelijk verjaardagskadootjes en swap kadootjes, die dus nog niet geshowed mogen worden op het wereld wijde web....

I have been very creative and Mare aswell, but most of our creations can't be shown here, because they are birthday presents or swap gifts. They should not be shown yet...

But I can show you these pillow cases I made for my sister-in-law

She braught the fabric from Indonesia.

Ik kan wel deze kussens laten dien. Die heb ik gemaakt voor Laura. Ze had de stof meegenomen uit Indonesië.

Voor de verjaardag van oma, heeft mare deze tas met textielverf en stiften bewerkt. De ene kant met bloemen en wolken, de andere kant met oma en Mare naast elkaar.

For my mothers birthday Mare decorated this bag with textile pens and paint. One side with flowers and clouds, the other with Mare and grandma.

Ze heeft ook nog een vogelvoeder huisje geschilderd.

She also painted a birth-feeder.

Herfstknutselen - Autumn crafts

In de vorige post, liet ik al zien dat Mare en ik flink aan het knutselen waren geweest. Hierboven zie je 3 schilderwerkjes en een heleboel kralenkettinkjes. Ik zal eens laten zien wat we gemaakt hebben.

In my last post, I already showed you this picture, saying we did a lot of crafts. Today I will show you what we did with the paintings and the beads.

We hebben een herfstboom, op canvas gemaakt.

We made an autumn tree on canvas.

Op een doek wat Mare beschilderd had met een lucht en een grond heb ik haar hand en onderarm overgetrokken.

On the canvas that Mare had already painted with a sky and earth, I drew around her hand and arm.

Deze heeft zij ingeschilderd met bruine verf.

She painted this with brown paint.

Vervolgens heeft ze de bladeren die we vorige week hebben gedroogd er opgeplakt. Tot slot heb ik het geheel met spuitlak bewerkt. Het maakt het eindresultaat wel wat glimmend, maar zo vallen de bladeren er niet te snel weer van af.

Then Mare stuck the autumn leaves on, that we have pressed before. I sprayed farnish on it. This does make it a bit tooo shiny, but also makes sure that the leaves will stay on longer!

Mare heeft 2 wolken uitgeknipt en toen beschilderd. Vervolgens heeft ze aan nylondraad 5 kettinkjes geregen van grote kralen en zwarte rietjes. Ik heb alles aan elkaar gemaakt met wat stukjes karton ertussen omdat het anders makkelijk scheurt. Ik ben dol op het resultaat! Wat heeft ze dat mooi gedaan.

Mare cur out 2 rainclouds and painted them. Then she made 5 chains with big beads and pieces of black straws. I put it all together with some cardboard in between to make sure it doesn't tear. I love this art she made!!

Armbandjes - Bracelets

Voor een swap, heb ik geknoopte armbandjes gemaakt. Dat heb ik als kind natuurlijk heel veel gedaan, maar ik vond het erg leuk om weer eens te doen (en verslavend)

For a swap I made friendship bracelets. I used to make them as a child, but enjoyed it alot to make them again.

Het was een swap gebaseerd op de wensen van je partner, ze wilde graag zwart-wit of aqua- paars. Eerst heb ik deze gemaakt, een die ik als kind ook veel maakte.

The swap was based on the wishes of your swappartner. She wanted black-white or aqua - purple. First I made this as I used to make them as a child.

Toen zag ik op Youtube een filmpje hoe je dit bandje moest maken. Erg leuk om een nieuwe manier te leren, alleen vond ik het wat te smal voor een volwassen vrouw.

Then I saw on Youtube a film of how to make this bracelet. I liked learning a new way, but thought it was to small for an adult women.

Dus toen heb ik hem dubbel zo breed gemaakt, maar helaas was die weer te kort.

So I made it double as broad. But then it was to short again.....

Dus heb ik er nog een gemaakt, zelfde patroon maar langer, ik ben over deze erg tevreden. En heb nog een zelfde in rood/zwart gemaakt voor mijn vriendin.

So I made one in the same patern, only longer. I am very happy with this one and made one more in black/red for my friend.

Knutselen - Crafting

Omdat vrienden van ons gaan trouwen, heeft Mare (met veel hulp van mama) dit bruidspaar gemaakt.

As colse friends of ours just told us they are getting married, Mare made them (with a lot of help from mummy) this wedding couple

Dankzij de regen hebben we vandaag ook alweer flink creatief gedaan, maar dat is allemaal nog niet klaar, dus jullie zullen nog even in spanning moeten afwachten wat dit gaat worden :)

Thanks to the rain outside we were very creative again today, but as it is all not finished yet, you will have to wait a bit more to see what this will be.

Wintertuin - Wintergarden

Dit is de laatste zomerse plant in onze daktuin. Verder hebben we alles geoogst. We zijn heel blij met ons experiment, bijna alle pplanten zijn goed aangeslagen! Alleen de bloemkool wilde niet en de prei bleef erg klein. Deze rode pepers hebben nog een straaltje zonlicht nodig en dan oogsten we ze ook.

This is the last summerveg we have left in our roofgarden. We harvested so many nice veggies. We are very happy with the result of this experiment. These redpeppers just need a little sunshine, and will be ready to eat soon.

Bart heeft de rest van de bak goed leeg gemaakt en doorgespit. Met hulp van onze kleine tuinierster natuurlijk.

Bart emptied the rest of the garden and mixed the soil very good again. With help of our little gardener ofcaurse.

Hoewel het officieel nog geen herfst is, zit het wel degelijk in de lucht! De bomen beginnen te kleuren, de kastanjes en eikels zijn overal te vinden, en de eerste paddenstoelen ploppen uit de grond. Tijd om met Mare een fijne wandeling door het bos te maken.Although officially it is not autumn yet, it sure feels like it. The trees change colours, accorns and chestnuts are to be found evenrywhere and mushrooms pop out of the ground. Time for a nice autumn walk with Mare.De gevonden schatten zijn verwerkt in de nieuwe seizoenentafel.

The treasures we found, are now on our renewed nature-table.

Enkele weken terug heeft Mare met opa deze bloemen persen gemaakt, en ze met oma beschilderd.

Some weeks ago, Mare made these flower presses with her granddad, and painted them with grandma.

We hebben ze gebruikt om de gevonden herfstbladeren te persen. Daar heeft mama nog een paar leuke knutselideetjes mee :)

We used them to press the autumn leaves we found. Mummy has some creative ideas with them... :)

Binnenseizoen begint - Indoorseason starts

We hebben een wieg gekocht voor de baby opkomst. En aangezien het weer ons dwong om binnen te spelen, was het de perfecte plek voor Mare's poppen

We bought a krib for the baby. And because the weather forced us to play outside, it was the ideal place for Mare's dolls.

We hebben ook een regenachtigemiddag gebruikt om een appeltaart te bakken. Mare maakt ondertussen het deeg al helemaal zelf. Ze kan al zo lang en stevig kneden dat ik niet meer hoef te helpen.

We spend a rainy afternoon on baking an applepie too. Mare is now so strong that she makes the dough all by herself, and needs no help from me.

Met alle spinnen in de tuin moesten we die nodig vingerverven.

We had to fingerpaint all the spiders we see in the garden.

Een vriendin krijgt een kindje. Daarom hebben we deze olifantjes gevouwen. Ik was onder de indruk van Mare's vouwtechniek.

A friend is having a baby so we made her these elephants. I think Mare is doing great on her folding techniques.

Echt binnenblijf weer was het dus. Vandaag gelukkig een zonnetje dus we zullen nog wel even van buiten gaan genieten.

Real indoor weather it has been. Today beautiful sunny weather, so we will probably enjoy the outsides today!

Weer thuis - Back home

Vanwege het aanhoudende regenachtige weer, zijn we toch snel weer wat zuiderlijker gegaan en kwamen zo in Oosterhout aan. Een camping die we nog kenden van vorig jaar (zie deze post) We hadden beduidend mooier weer hier, en hebben een hele week in korte broek gelopen.

Because the weather stayed bad in Wilnis we went a little bit more to the south where the rain prospects were not so terrible. We went to Oosterhout a campsite we knew from last year (see this post). There we enjoyed a week more of lovely sunny hollidays.

Mare had het weer heerlijk met water en zo min mogelijk kleren aan.

Mare enjoyed the water playing and wearing as little clothes as possible.

Er was een (heeeeeeeeeeeeeeel koud) zwembadje

There was a (veryyyyyyyyyy cold) pool.

Opa en oma kwamen nog even langs op de terugreis van hun weekje weg.

The grannys came by on their way home back from a week of holliday.

De muggen hebben onze kleine vrouw flink te pakken genomen.

Poor thing..... good weather comes with muskitoes.

Er was een lief museum met allemaal miniaturen van Oosterhout in 1900 en ook nog wat oude stijlkamers.

There was a sweet little museum with miniature buildings of the city in 1900.

Maar het allebelangrijkste waren toch de geweldige vriendjes en vriendinnetjes die Mare alweer snel had gemaakt. Van elke camping weet ze dat nog het beste. Al die kinderen maken kamperen het einde! We hebben genoten en genieten nu nog lekker een paar weekjes van thuis vakantie.

But most important: the friends. Mare made friends on each campsite within a day, and that is what makes camping so nice for her, all the children. We loved our 3 weeks of camping hollidays, and now will enjoy a few more weeks of holliday at home.

Veel Hollandser dat dit wordt het niet. Op het kruispunt tussen Noord,- Zuid Holland en Utrecht vindt je Wilnis. Midden tussen de polders en de watertjes ligt camping en zorgboerderij Amstelkade

Eeste camping update - First campsite update

Ziehier onze tent in Zeeuws Vlaanderen staan. Vogelwaarde, een klein dorpje nabij het vestingstadje Hulst. We hebben hier afgesproken met mensen die we vorig jaar hebben leren kennen tijdens het kamperen. Mare en Emma (van de vrienden) waren heel blij om weer samen te kunnen spelen.

Onze daktuin levert echt de mooiste producten op, zoals ik ze nog nooit in de winkel heb gekocht. Neem nou deze rode ijsbergsla. Vers, knapperig, en stevig. Hebben jullie dat al eens bij de Albert Hein gezien?

Our roofgarden is doing just fabulous. We are amazed by seeing what we harvest! Look at this red lettuce. It is fresh, firm and crispy. Have you seen these in your supermarket lately?

Vandaag hebben we onze eerst courgette gegeten en hij was geweldig! Zo vers en zo ongelooflijk knalgroen van binnen!

Today we ate our first zucchini and it was just great! So fresh and so bright green!

Nu ben ik aan het surfen voor een recept voor deze prachtige rode koolrabi's.

Strand - Beach

Zondag waren we 2 jaar getrouwd en Mare mocht kiezen wat we zouden doen. Ze koos voor een dagje naar het strand.

Sunday we were married for 2 years and Mare got to choose what we would do, she chose for the beach. There she found a nice girl to play with, and ofcaurse her daddy played along too.

Ze vond al snel een meisje om mee te spelen en ook met papa spelen was heerlijk. Maandag zijn we weer naar een strandje bij een meer geweest, omdat het alweer zulk heerlijk weer was. Vandaag was et tijd om erover te knutselen. Mare maakte dit lieve schilderijtje met verf en haar vondsten van het strand.

Monday we went to a beach again, a little beach at a lake. Today she wanted to craft, and we made this beach painting. With her treasure she brought home.

En ik heb de seizoenentafel aangepast aan het zomerse weer.

Waarschijnlijk vraag je je danig af wat ik hier nu toch heb gebreid. Het was een patroon wat ik al heel lang had liggen en waar ik maar niet aan toe kwam. Tot ik van de week 4 bolletjes garen vond, een menging van bamboe en wol. En toen heb ik op 2 pennen deze lap gebreid.

You might wonder what this thing is. It was a patern I had lying around for a long time already, planning to knit up once. And this week I found these skeins of bamboo/wool blend and decided it was time. On two needles, all as one piece I made this.

A baby-surprise jacket.

Ik vind het echt zo leuk hoe zo'n lap een vestje wordt. Hij moet nog even in elkaar en knoopjes zullen ook niet misstaan, maar dan is ie toch echt af!

I love how this "thing" becomes a jacket! It needs sewing up, and some buttons, but then it is finished

Met de wol die ik zelf geverfd had, heb ik met het zelfde patroon van eerder dit mutsje gemaakt. Het is voor de pop van Mare. Ik heb hem op 2 pennen gemaakt, maar krijg je naad helaas niet vlak genoeg dat het comfortabel is voor een baby.

With the yarn I dyed a short while ago I made this little hat. It is made for Mare's doll. It was made by the same patern as this one. I made it on two needles but couldn't get the seem to be flat enough to be comfortable for a baby.

Dus heb ik deze (weer van zijde /babyalpaca mix) weer op 5 naalden gemaakt. Hij moet nog even omgehaakt, maar daar heb ik hulp bij nodig.... (bij deze mam)

So I made this one (again with baby alpaca/silk blend) on 5 needles again. It still needs to be crochet around, but there I will need some help (mum......)

Waarschijnlijk hebben jullie het bericht van Bart zijn groententuin op ons dak wel gelezen (zo niet klik hier). Nu is het twee weken later, en kijk naar hoe alles uit de bak schiet. We hebben zelfs al de eerste oogst.

You all probably read the post about Barts veggie patch (if not see this) wel I just wanted to show you how big all the plants have got, we even harvested some of our raddich.

Hoe we het hebben gedaan: Eerst de deksel van een grote eierdoos van buiten groen en van binnen blauw geschilderd.

How we did it: first we painted a big egg carton. Inside blue outside green.

Toen had ik de vierkante cupjes van de eierdoos nodig. Mijn eierdoos bleek niet geschikt, rond en niet los te snijden. Dus ik heb de middelste punten gebruikt.

Then we needed the square cups you often find in a eggcarton. Sadly mine didn't have those, so I used the pointy things in the middle of the box.

Met wat plakband en een schaar waren ze de juiste vorm. Ze zijn groen geschilderd.

With some tape and a pair of siccors they became the right shape. Then they were painted green.

En kikker is klaar.

And there is your frogg.

Veel gras knippen (best lastig voor een 3 jarige, maar mama mocht helpen)

Cut a lot of grass (hard for a 3 year old, mummy was alowed to help)

Draw flowers and stick to green straws.

Alles samen brengen en klaar is je vijvertje.

Barts kleine moestuin - Barts own little veggie patch

Dit is een vierkante meter moestuin, die heeft Bart voor zijn verjaardag gekregen.
This is a square meter veggie patch. Bart got it for his birthday.

Van alle bonnen die hij ook kreeg, kochten we bij het tuincentrum een heleboel kleine groentenplantjes.
For all the giftcheques we bought many little veggie-plants.

Bart en Mare hebben de tuin op het dak helemaal in orde gemaakt, terwijl mama de ramen stond te lappen.

Bart and Mare filled the whole patch, while mummy was cleaning the windows.

Resultaat. De plantjes slaan goed aan en zijn al flink gegroeid.

Result. The plants are doing really well, and have grown quit a bit.

Creative friday

I made this little fabulous hat. It is a new-born size.For ages I had lying around 3 skeins of baby-alpaca blended with silk. It is the softest yarn I ever felt. I knew it had to become a baby thing, but what???

Then I was in the library last monday and found this fabulous book. It has a basic babyhat patern and about 20 different ways of making that patern unique. I made this hat, but guess I will make more soon :)

I also tried wool dyeing with Kool-aid.

As we have no microwave I had to do it "au bain mary".

The colours are horrible, but that was all I had. In Holland Kool aid is not for sale, ands these purple and yellow bags were a gift of a wool dyer I know.

It turned out really well, although the combination of these two colours are terrible, it was so nice to try! I will give this away to a bunch of people I know that make a sockyarn blanket. They might like a little patch of this grazy yarn in their blanket.

I loved doing it, when I can get my hands on some other kool aid, I will make a nicer colour sceme, knowing now how to do it :)

Hoera, de maand juni is begonnen, en die start altijd met de verjaardag van Bart. Lieve Bart heel erg gefeliciteerd en nog vele vele mooie jaren, met ons samen, toegewenst.

The month of june has started again, and for us it always starts with the birthday of Bart. Bart we wish you all the best, and many good years to come! Together with us :)

Het weer heeft ook opnieuw het zomerse niveau bereikt, dus dagjes weg. We zijn naar IJmuiden gefietst voor een feestje en hebben onderweg geo's opgehaald en van het weer genoten. Het voelde echt als een mini vakantie naast de deur!

The weather has turned to the summer level again, great! We took the bike to IJmuiden for a party there, and on the way we collected some geo's and enjoyed the weather. Like here at the harbour, where the ferry goes across the canal. Luck was on our side because we saw grandma there, she was taking the boat to Amsterdam with her bike group.

Daar kwamen we oma tegen, die net met haar fietsgroepje naar Amsterdam vertrok om te genieten van het mooie weer daar.

Creative friday

For mothersday we made "marble art". Just put a piece of paper in a shoebox, then drop a few dots of paint in and add marbles. Let your child rock the box; and there is your marble art.

Withe the marble art we covered some notebooks, and inside Mare drew herself or grandma.

I covered the books with plastic so they can last a long life. All grandma's loved it!

I drew this picture. I used pastell crayons wich I love! I was inspired by a picture of my friend with here baby, but I wouldn't do her good to say she looks like it :)

I also painted this picture of my father. I always struggle with acrylics but this time I was quit pleased.

Zoals al eerder gezegd was het weer in mei geweldig! Hier spotten we Mare in de tuin, bezig met het planten van tomaten.

As I wrote before, the weather in may was amazing. Here we spot Mare in the garden, planting tomato plants.

Onze adoptie meerkoeten hebben eindelijk baby's. Ze groeien heel snel en hebben nu al bijna geen rood en geel meer, maar hier zijn ze net geboren.

Our adopted koots, the baby's are finally born. They grow really fast, and at the moment hardly have red and yellow anymore. In these pics they were just born.

Nieuwe keuken - New kitchen

Bart heeft samen met zijn vader, deze nieuwe keukenkastjes opgehangen. We hebben er een mooie bijpassende energie zuinige koelkast bij uitgezocht, en het voelt als een hele nieuwe keuken!!

Bart hanged together with his father these new cubboards in our kitchen. We selected a very nice and energy friendly refridgerator to go with that, and all together it feels like a new kitchen!

We zijn er elke dag weer heel blij mee!

Kamperen - Camping

Ruim een week geleden zijn we terug gekomen van een weekje kamperen. We hebben gekampeerd in Driehuis wat op fietsafstand is van Haarlem.

A little more then a week ago we returned from a week of camping. We took the tent to Driehuis, wich is a small village not far from our house.

We waren samen met vrienden van ons welke 2 kinderen hebben. Een jongen en een meisje. Mare vond het zoals gewoonlijk heerlijk om te kamperen. Ze is het liefst de hele dag buiten, en dan nu ook nog met 2 lieve kinderen erbij.

We went together with friends of ours who have 2 children, a boy and a girl. As usual Mare loved it all, foor she loves to be outside, but now she loved it even more because those friends were there too.

Ik heb popcorn op de BBQ gemaakt.

Laatste beetje apirl - Last update on April

Mare en haar vriendje van de peuterschool. Ze is dol op hem, en speelt het liefst elke dag bij hem. Deze keer gingen we even met elkaar wandelen en de hond uitlaten.

Mare and het friend from preschool. She really likes him very much and would really like to play with him every day. Here we take a walk with their dog.

Op ons vaste fietsrondje begint de lente ook steeds duidelijker te worden.

On our regular bicycle tour the spring is kicking in too.

Dit is onze adoptie meerkoeten familie. We zagen op een dag een van de twee aan het nest bouwen en bleven lang kijken. De volgende dag zagen we zijn vrouwtje op het nest broeden. Nu fietsen we bijna dagelijks langs om te kijken of de baby's er al zijn.

This is our pet coor family. One day we saw the father building the nest and the next day his wife was sitting on her eggs. Now we go there dayly to see if the baby's are there.

Queensday in Holland is a crazy party where everyone goes outside to celebrate, sell old stuff, drink talk make fun etc. Also we like to dress in our national colours of red blue white and orange. Madness!!!

Maandagochtend. Maar wel een vrije maandagochtend. Ik neem jullie al een tijdje mee, maar vandaag liever wat uitgebreider. De zomerse dagen die we hier hebben, hebben geleid tot een bloemenpracht op de weg naar Mare's school.

Monday morning. This time a free morning because of easter, but still I want to take you to Mares school, the road we always take. But this time with many photographs. It has been amazing weather here for the last week and a half. The weather station even told us that Holland was the hottest country in Europe on one day. I hope you enjoy our walk!

Eerst moeten we een drukke autoweg oversteken, maar dan komen we bij een lief paadje . Aan je rechterhand zie je een grote akker, die net kaal is en omgeploegd. De donkere aarde ligt te wachten tot er weer gezaaid wordt. Aan je linker hand een klein slootje. Tussen het fietspad en het slootje een pracht aan bloemen en groen.

Aan het eind van het pad, zie je een groot smeedijzeren hek. Daar kan je doorheen en dan ga je rechtaf het bos in. Wij noemen dit ons elvenbos! Het ziet er dan ook betoverend uit, en de hele lucht zit vol met de geur van look.

At the end of the path, there is a big iron gate. You can go thrue this gate into our fairy's forest. It does look enchanted. And the air is filled with the smell of onion.

Aan het eind van het bos kom je weer bij een groot metelen hek, en kijk je zo uit over een weiland vol met paardenbloemen en madeliefjes. Dit is een veld voor de koeien, maar die zijn nog niet buiten in april. Het weiland zit vol met nijlganzen.

At the end of the woods, you see another iron gate. Here you can see a big meadow for the cows. The meadow is normally for cows but they are not outside yet. The field is full of dandelions and daisy's. Also many Nile geeze.

Sla rechtsaf, langs het weiland loopt een volgend beekje. Ook weer met alle pracht van groen en bloemen.

Take a right turn, next to the meadow another creek. Here again an abundance of green and flowers.

Er zijn ook al heel veel kikkervisjes.

There are many tadpole's there.

Het pad dat je nu loop wordt aan 2 kanten omzoomd door grote oude bomen. Die nu net lichtgroen ontspruiten. Aan het eind vind je Mare haar school.

Dit hele pad fietsen wij in tien minuten. Maar zo op een vrije maandag is het lopend natuurlijk veel en veel mooier. Ik hoop dat jullie genoten hebben van de wandeling.

The path you are walking on now, has on both sides big old trees. They are just now sprouting their leaves in bright green. At the end you will find Mare's school.

Normally we take the bicycle on this path and do it in 10 minutes. But today, on our free day the walk is much more enjoyable. I hope you enjoyed our walk like we did.

I wanted to make numbered beanbags ever since I saw the beanbags on this site! I found a large pile of felt on my mothers attic so I decided to create them out of felt.

You need:

felt (in different colours)

many colours sewing thread

Patern of numbers (I used the ones on this site and enlarged them but you could make them in word aswell)

pinns and needles

siccors

pinking shears

square piece of cardboard, the size you want the beanbags to become

Cut 20 squares of felt. I made 2 of each colour but you could do as you like.

Pin your numbers on the felt

Cut them out.

Figure out wich number you want on what colour beanbag.

Pin the numbers on the felt quares and sew them carefully.

All the way past the number.

Choose the colours for you front and backsite of the beanbag. I used 3 following colours for front, back and number but do as you like.

Select you beans. I used 3 different kinds. Lentills, split peas and brown beans. I did this for 2 reasons. 1. I like the bags to not be all the same. 2. I never made beanbags before and wanted to try wich I like best. I like the letills best!

Sew the beanbag closed, but leave a hole big enough for a spoon to fit in.

Fill up you beanbag, and close it.

Make ten this way and let the playing begin!!!

Met koninginnedag en bevrijdingsdag in het vooruitzicht heb ik een typisch Hollands jurkje voor Mare en haar vriendinnetje gemaakt. Dit is de voorkant van die van Mare, hieronder de achterkant.

Bloemencorso - flowerparade

Na de verjaardag van Paul gingen we naar de aankomst van de bloemencorso. Laura ging met ons mee. Helaas was de intocht zoals gebruikelijk ruim een uur the laat.

After the birthday of her uncle Paul we went to the arrival of the flowerparade. Het aunt Laura joined us. The cars arrived way to late as usual, and they almost fell asleep!

It is an amazing thing this flower parade. Cars decorated with flowers, all themed (this year was musicals). It attracts tourists from all over the country and from Germany and Belgium aswell. But thge nicest thing about it, is that it feels for us in our city like the start of the outdoor season. Itr is the first street festival of the year (we have many). And everyone is outside, dozens of children that should have been in bed for hours already, and all kinds of people of all ages.

Toen de auto's eenmaal kwamen was Mare heel erg onder de indruk, en zei ze zachtjes tegen papa: " papa, papa het is een feestje!!!"

When the cars finally arrived Mare was well impressed. She loved it all, and also all the music that came with it. She said into Barts ear: "daddy daddy, it is a party!!!"

Deze zondag begon natuurlijk met de doop van Marijn. Hier met zijn trotse ouders. This sunday started with the baptism of Marijn, here to be seen with his proud parents.

Zijn pakje. Ik heb een keer of 10 een foto geprobeerd te maken, maar baby's hebben de akelige gewoonte niet stil te willen liggen, en stiekem vond ik het wel een hele lieve foto.

His suit, I tried to make a picture for 10 times but he never lies quitly on his back. I do love this picture for his big smile.

Het was geweldig mooi zonnig weer, en thuis bloeide ons druipende hart. Wat een prachtige plant is dat toch. Voor ons de plant van Oma Woltjer.

The weather was amazing and when we came home this plant bloomed. In dutch it is called the crying heart. I love this plant, and for us it is a symbol of my grandmother.

We hebben het er al jaren over; zou het niet leuk zijn om een volkstuin te hebben?? Maar telkens is er twijfel of we het wel vol zouden houden en niet zouden laten verwaarlozen. Daarom kwam Bart met het plan om een ruime vierkante meter in onze eigen tuin tot groententuin te maken. Zo kunnen we eens kijken of het wat voor ons is. Vandaag dus woord bij daad gevoegd. Hier zaaien we samen wortels. Verder staan alle zaadjes in potten om eerst kleine plantjes te worden, alvorens we ze uitzaaien.

We have been thinking about renting a vegetable garden for ages now. In Holland this is quit normal. When you have a small garden you can rent one. There are places with many 100 square meter gardens where you can grow your own veggies. But we are always scared that we will neglegd it to much. So Bart came with the idea to try a little veggie patch in our own garden. When we like it we can always go for a big one next year. For now we just planted carrots, all the other seeds are in pots for sprouting before we will plant them in the patch.

In de middag zijn we naar mijn vriendin gegaan. (Mare is dol op haar) Daar waren nog 2 gemeenschappelijke vrienden van ons met hun baby. We hebben heerlijk van de zon genoten En de dag afgesloten met 2 grote zelfgemaakte verse salades en brood. Wat een ultiem zomer gevoel! (in april)

Dooppakje - Babtise set

Hij is af, nou ja bijna, nog strijken en een paar knoopjes. De doop is zondag en ik hoop dan ook nog wat foto's te maken van de baby in het pakje. It is finished. Well almost that is, it needs some buttons and an iron. Sunday is the babtism I hope to make a picture of the boy wearing it.

Ik heb de blouse wat langer gemaakt. De knoopjes komen alleen hoog, zodat hij een beetje open valt aan de onderkant.

I made the blouse a bit longer. There will only be buttons at the top, so that it will fall a bit open at the underside.

Ik was meteen verliefd op de stof. De randen zijn zo mooi, dat de mouwen en onderkant niet gezoomd zijn.

Ik immediately fell in love with this fabric. The edges are so nice that the sleeves and the bottom of the top have no hems.

De broek is heel simpel, zodat hij hem van de zomer ook weer aan kan.

The trousers are very simple, so he can wear them this summer again.

Paasvoorbereidingen - Easterpreparations

Al blogsurfend kwam ik overal paasknutsels tegen. Wij zijn gisteren begonnen met de eerste schilderwerkjes. Ik genoot zo van haar schilderwerkjes, dat ik zelf ook wat ben gaan schilderen.

As I was blogsurfing I saw all kinds of eastercrafts. I decided we could start too. So we painted alot of eggs. I liked Mare painting, so I made some myself too.

Mare heeft van het schilderwerk van gisteren, vandaag uitnodigingen voor de paasbrunch gemaakt. De eerste was heel leuk om te doen, de tweede ging wel en de derde was een hele opgave.

Mare today made the eggs we painted yesterday, into invitations for our easterbrunch. The first she loved to do, the second one was oke, and the third was quit a mountain to tame.

Daarom heeft mama de laatste drie maar versierd.

Alle andere zijn uitgeknipt, maar hebben nog geen doel. Ik denk dat de mijne versiering voor de ramen worden en die van mare versierd worden en als paaskaarten naar vrienden worden gestuurd.

I cut out all the eggs. I know not what to do with them yet, but I think mine will become decoration on our windows and Mare's will be decorated and send to friends for easter.

En de nieuwste aanwinst. Ik wilde een lentefee maken, maar vind haar voorlopig nog gewoon een prinses. Misschien moet ik nog iets doen met bloemen en zo.

And my newest doll. I wanted to make a spring fairy, but she turned out more as a princess. So I might change it a bit with flowers.

Ik had zoveel stof over dat ik dit super lieve rokje voor Mare heb gemaakt. Het staat haar geweldig. (heel Oililly)

I had so much fabric left that I made Mare this little skirt. It looks very nice on her (and very Oililly)

We zijn ook verder gegaan met de doos. Deze vlinders heeft ze gekleurd. Ik heb ze uitgeknipt en opgehangen.

We spend some more time on the box. She coloured the butterflies and I cut them out and hang them up.

We hebben ook deze konijntjes gemaakt, maar ik ben niet helemaal tevreden. Ze zien eruit alsof ik ales heb gedaan. Terwijl het enige wat ik heb gedaan de mond en snorharen en het zwart in de oren is. Zij heeft geschilderd, geknipt en de ogen en neusjes geregeld. Wellicht gaan we nog iets anders maken.

We also made these rabbits, but I am not so satisfied. They look like I made them. But actually I only drew the inside of the ears and the mouth and nostrills. She painted it, cut it out, glued the eyes and cut the nose.... Maybe I will let her make something else later on.

Ondertussen ben ik ook flink aan het naaien voor de jongste zoon van Egine want die wordt volgende week gedoopt. Ik heb voor haar oudste zoon 3 jaar geleden ook een pakje gemaakt. Volgende week foto's.

In the mean time I am also sewing for my friends youngest son. He will be babtised next weekend. I made his older brother a set aswell 3 years ago.

Koningshof

Nog een update over ons weekend. Aangezien het alweer geweldig weer was, zijn we lekker een dagje gaan wandelen in Koningshof. Een duinnatuurgebied, niet ver van ons huis.

Here an update on our weekend. The weather was amazing, shining sun with blue skies. We went for a walk in "Koningshof" (the kings garden) Wich is a nice dune area near our house.

Als je je afvraagt wat Mare hier doet.... Ze is de bomen blij aan het maken. Die stonden allemaal zo zielig alleen en ver uit elkaar, dat ze elke boom een dennenappel gaf om weer blij te worden.

You might be wondering what Mare is doing here. She is making the trees happy. She felt so sorry for them standing so alone and far apart, that she gave all of them a pinecone to cheer up!

We hebben de allereerste bloempjes gezien, zo klein dat ik ze zonder schaduw van mijn toestel niet kon fotograferen

We saw the first tiny flowers, wich were so small I couldn't photograph them without the shadow of my camera on them.

The area is grased by Scottish highlanders and horses. We walked right into them.

Mare (en papa en mama) trots dat ze 3 kilometer helemaal zelf heeft gelopen!

We were all very proud that Mare walked 3 kilometers all by herself.

Super creative friday!

Het is een ongelooflijk creatieve week geweest, zowel voor Mare als voor mij. Ik heb deze pop gemaakt (12 cm) Een Indianen moeder met haar babytje. Het was een pakketje wat al heel lang lag, en in het kader van opruimen moest het maar eens iets worden.

It has been an amazing creative week, aswell for Mare as for me. I made this Indian mother with her child. It was a compleet set of materials and patern that has been lying around for a while now, but she is finished and turned out very sweet.

Mare is begonnen met een lente tafelreeltje. Ik had nieuwe schoenen gekocht die deze mooie grote doos opgeleverd hadden. We zijn begonnen met schilderen

Mare started a spring landscape. As I bought new shoes this nice box came into the house, couldn't leave it ofcaurse..... She started by painting it.

Daarna heeft ze van blaadjes die ik geknipt had, bloemetjes geplakt. Ze heeft vervolgens helemaal zelf stengels en bladeren geknipt.

Then she made flowers from peddles I had cut.
After that she cut a stem and leaves for the flowers all by herself.

Samen hebben we gras geknipt. Ik heb getekend en zij heeft uitgeknipt. Soms help ik haar nog wel met het vasthouden van het papier.

Together we made the grass. I drew it and she cut it out. Sometimes I help her by holding the paper in place.

Ik vind het heel leuk om haar zo heel veel technieken te leren in het maken van iets heel erg moois. Schilderen, knippen, plakken alles komt aan bod. Het werkje is nog niet af, de dieren ontbreken nog.... goede reden om volgende vrijdag nog eens te komen kijken.

I really like to teach her all different techniques this way, by making something very beatifull and special. It is not finished yet, probably in next week creative friday the endresult.

En toen hebben we ook nog samen gevilt. Ik had nog nooit (op schapenscheren vroeger na) zelf vilt gemaakt. Ik ben begonnen met wat wol en een stuk bubbel plastic.

And we also made felt. I never did that before. So it was an exiting try for me.

Snel kwam Mare met een stoel bij het aanrecht en nam mijn werkje over.

Not long after I started Mare got out her chair, took it to the kitchen and took over my new discovery.

Samen hebben we dit gemaakt.

Together we made this.

En toen wilde ze er nog een maken, helemaal alleen.

And then she wanted to make one more, all by herself.

Zelf de kleuren uitgekozen en heeeeeeeel lang gewreven.

She picked the colours herself, and kept rubbing it for a very very very long time.

Ze begon zelfs nog een derde, maar die mocht mama afmaken.

She even started a third, but left it up to me to finish it.

Dit zijn de resultaten. Leuk om te doen, het is nog niet helemaal goed, maar ik begin het te begrijpen. Op youtube heb ik allemaal leuke filmphjes gevonden om de volgende poging nog beter te laten slagen.

Verjaardagsfeestje - Birthdayparty

Een paar weken geleden kreeg Mare een uitnodiging voor het verjaardagsfeestje van een vriendinnetje. Ze was zo vreselijk enthousiast dat ze op de dag zelf om kwart over 6 wakker werd en riep: nu gaan we naar de verjaardag van ..... he!!!

A few weeks ago Mare got an invitation for a birthday party! She was so exited that on the day itself she woke up at 6.15 in the morning an shouted from her bed: now we are going to.... birthday, right?!

Tegen de tijd dat we gingen viel ze dus binnen een paar minuten in slaap in de auto. Als je je afvraagt wat het rode is, dat is een tasje waarin de kadootjes zaten. Ze weigerde die tas los te laten!

By the time we went to the party she almost instantly fell asleep in her seat in the car. The red thing you can see is the bag with presents, she firmly resisted in putting it aside, so she fell asleep with it!

Het weer was echt ongelooflijk goed! Dus alle kinderen (en wij) verschoven naar de tuin en daar ging de zanbak open! Wat een feest der lente, en dat 1 dag voor de officiele equinox!

It was amazing weather, so all the children moved to the garden (and we did too). There the sandbox was opened, and we all enjoyed ourselfs so much!

Dit zijn de mooie dagen en momenten die we moeten koesteren!

Mare daar en tegen was behoorlijk creatief. Ze heeft deze lentehaasjes gemaakt in het gras en lentebloemen.

Maar ik heb wel mijn eerste popje ontvangen van de swap. deze kreeg ik van cheryl, die mijn popje van de week al ontving

Buitenseizoen is begonnen - Outdoor season!!

Ja we kunnen weer heerlijk buitenspelen!!! Nu de lente in de lucht hangt is het weer tijd om naar buiten te gaan. Donderdag was Bart met Mare naar boerderij zorgvrij geweest. Er waren al lammetjes en kalfjes.

Yes we can play outside again! Mare and Bart went to a educational farm thursday. There were calfs and lambs there.

Of gewoon naar het park genieten van de zon op een bankje.

Or just a visit to the park in the sun.

Zondag zijn we naar een hoge zandduin in onze buurt geweest. Dat trekt altijd veel kinderen aan en Mare heeft dan ook lekker gespeeld.

On sunday we went to a big sand dune near our house. There are always many children there. So Mare played for quit a while there.

Dit zijn de schatten die mee naar huis moesten en die nu op de seizoenentafel liggen uitgestald.

These treasures had to come home, and now found their place on our nature table.

Op maandag haalde ik Mare op van de peuterschool en sprak de moeder van haar vriendje. Zij wilde ook wel even naar de duinen en dus vertrokken we 's middags weer naar dezelfde duin als zondag.

When I picked Mare up from preschool on monday we made a playdate with her friend for that afternoon, and so we went to the same sandy hill again.

Toen we naar huis fietsten liet Mare weten dat ze niet naar huis wilde maar buiten wilde blijven. Dus hebben we nog een uurtje op een klein speelterreintje gespeeld

When we went home Mare made it clear that she wanted to stay outside, so we went to a small playground near our house and played some more.

Bedankt lente, hier worden we vrolijk van!!!

Maandag ochtend - Monday morning

Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het weer hetzelfde als alle vooraande maandag ochtend foto's, wanneer je naar omhaag kijkt. Maar het voelt zo anders. Geen handschoenen, geen tranen van de kou over je wangen....

The Umayyad Mosque in Damascus

This picture already tells you half the history of this mosque. It was first an Aramean temple, then a Roman temple, then a church and now one of the most magnificent mosques in the Arabic country's. But for me it is most importantly such a vivid place. All kind of people walk here, pray but also just enjoying the peacefull place and the sunny courtyard. I sat against one of the pilars for half an hour just taking in the atmosphere

On the third day we took a taxi into the country. Sand, mountains and amazing views.

All the way to this monastary. It is a 1000 years old, but only since 30 years it is in use again. It is now eucomenic, and a wonderfully welcome place.

To get there you have to make a little walk, surrounded by these amazing desert jasmins,

And up all these stairs....

Inside there is this amzing little chapel from 1100 bc and there are still fresco's there that are just as old.

Eating and drinking in Syria for me is a real feast!!! Sweet and savory, food and drinks. Here you see, we were only just out of bed and bought these sweets. They don't taste very nice, but the look of them just makes you want to buy them!!!!

In spring time fresh vergetables are no problem!

As Syria is very close to Turkey, Turkish coffee with cardamom is a common drink.

This is my absolute favorite! Baba ganoush! Very different from the baba ganoush we have here in Holland or I know from Marokko. It is roasted eggplant, finally chopped with a knife, mixed with springonions, bellpeppers, nuts, and pomegranate. And ofcourse olive oil. You eat this with flatbread.

Ofcourse Hummus.

In Damascus you will eat in a restaurant like this. There are so many of these old damascene houses that are restored and in the courtyard there are restaurants. Most of them have a roof over the restaurant. Warm in winter nice and cool in summer. This one has an orangetree in the courtyard.

And this I had never had before. It is lemonjuice mixed with fresh mint. Amazing!

The core of Syria "the suq"

Syria is great for all kinds of sights and all kinds of historical places. But for us, the most amazing still is the everyday life! And the best place for that to be found is the suq (market). It is just amazing how different life can be in an other country!
Here some suq pictures. Above flowers, and a lot of them, for tea and coffee.

Suq's are themed. This picture is made in the sweets suq. Everywhere little shops and stands with sweets in all colours and flavours.

As you can imagine this was made in the fabric and clothes suq.

The overall view is just amazing with all the colours, the flags and all beautifull different people.

Last minute creative friday

Aangezien ik in Syrië was heb ik helaas deze week niets gemaakt voor creative friday, maar net toen ik vandaag uit mijn werk kwam kreeg ik een email van Cheryl dat de eerste popjes van de doll-swap waren aangekomen, en die kon ik dus mooi even posten op creative friday. Ik heb al mijn popjes gebaseerd op natuurlijke elementen en dit zijn de vuurpopjes. Geschilderd met ecoline en vleugeltjes gegeven van sprookjesvilt. (haarkleur, zwart met rood gemengd)

As I was in Syria this week I had nothing to show on creative friday, but when I came home today I received an email from cheryl that the dolls I made for her for our doll-swap arrived. So I did have something to show to you all. I made my dolls inspired on natural elements and these were fire. I coloured them with liquid watercolours and made there wings of woolfelt. (hair colour black and red mixed.)

Buurjongen op bezoek - Neighbour playing

We hadden Bram van de buren een paar uurtjes op bezoek, hij is in de leeftijd dat zelf eten een hele ontdekking is. Uit de keuken van Mare had hij een plastic vork gehaald en daarmee at hij zijn aardappeltjes, maar ook wilde hij daarmee Mare graag voeren. En ook de yoghurt moest gegeten worden met die vork....

We had our neighbour "Bram" here for a few hours, He is in the phase that he is learning how to eat all by himself. He took a plastic fork from Mare's play kitchen. He ate his patotoes with it and fed Mare with it. He even wanted to eat his yoghurt with it....

Ja natuurlijk moest Mare dat toen ook proberen

And ofcaurse Mare had to try that too!

Bram was ook meteen dol op Mare haar meisjes speelgoed, hij heeft een half uur met dit tasje door de kamer gewandeld.

Bram also fell for Mare's girly toys, he walked around with this purse for half an hour....

Zeer vroeg voorjaar - Very early spring

Eindelijk is er in ons huis een ware seizoenentafel gekomen. Al heel lang was dit het plan, en al heel veel popjes heb ik ervoor. Meerdere plekken geprobeerd, maar nu is het rond! Op de eettafel staat een dienblad met een seizoen tafereel erop!

For so long I wanted a season-table. But I never found the right spot or place. Finaly we have one, and here is the first scene. Mare loves to look at it, and she very carefully plays with the dolls.

Het is het hele vroege voorjaar. Met koning winter nog hoog op zijn troon. De ijspegels zorgen nog voor kou, en onder de grond slapen de wortelkindjes.

It is the very early spring. King winter still on his throne and the icecles making sure it is cold. The rootchildren are still sleeping under the ground.

Maar daar waar vrouwtje dooi met haar bezem de sneeuw wegveegt worden de eerste wortelkindjes wakker en krijgen groene sprietjes die ze boven de aarde uitsteken!

But where lady thaw brooms away the snow, the root children awake, and stick there little green sprouts above the earth.

Vrouwtje dooi heb ik deze week gemaakt! Ik ben erg dol op haar, en vind haar erg mooi geworden.

I made lady thaw this week, I like her very much and think she turned out very nicely!

Ik ben vooral heel tevreden met haar gezichtje

I especially like her face.

Verder ben ik druk bezig voor deze swap. Maar daar kan ik je nog niets over laten zien... later meer.

And I am very busy with this swap, but that ofcaurse is still a secred, so no pictures yet.

Incredibly happy with her birthday hat and cake

Het feest verloopt als volgt: mama mag om 10.45 uur komen dan gaan de kinderen in de kring, en wordt de taart binnen gebracht. De kaarsjes gaan aan, en er wordt volop gezongen, en muziek gemaakt. Daarna krijgt de jarige Job een kadootje en mag ze uitdelen.

It works as follows: Mama can come at 10.45 hours and the children will sit in a circle. The paper cake is brought in and the candles are lit. There are songs and music playing, and then the birthday girl can hand out her sweets (and fish in this case).

Creatieve vrijdag - Creative friday

De traktatie voor Mare haar peuterschool is klaar. Ik was er al een flinke tijd mee bezig, zoals je hier en hier kunt zien. Ze was zondag al jarig, maar door de vakantie trakteert ze komende maandag pas.

The hand-outs for Mare's pre-school are finished. I was working on it for a while now as you can see here and here. She had her birthday last sunday but because of hollidays she will celebrate it on pre-school next monda

En haar tasje van vorige week is ook af.
